Image: Bluebonnets on a hillside
Words I wrote several months ago... "But as it always is, my favorite part of any trip is taking the exit sign marked Waxahachie" ... and the emotion lingers.

FROM HOME

Wildflowers make springtime special, and there's no place where Texas bluebonnets thrive more than in Ellis County. This morning as I drove to a nearby town, I passed along roadsides carpeted by close clusters of blue petals as our state flower made its spectacular debut. No good Texan is without a family photo taken amidst bluebonnet fields, and during spring, traffic slowdowns usually signal that a brilliant blue haze is just over the horizon. Texas stretches across plateaus, rivers, bayous, beaches, hills and valleys, but at least for me, none defines her beauty more than the bluebonnets right here at home.
